New York: 'Spider-Man: Far from Home' starts in a Mexican town devastated by a cyclone with human form. Stars Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal visited Mexico City on July 3 ahead of the local premiere Thursday.

This is the first superhero movie for Gyllenhaal, who has shown versatility in suspense and action in films ranging from 'Everest' to 'Nightcrawler'. In 'Far from Home,' he plays Mysterio, a warrior from another dimension.

"I think Tom is the best Spider-Man there has been so far," Gyllenhaal said, before adding cheekily -- "until the next one." ("Far From Home" is technically the third second Spider-Man movie -- with previous Spideys played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.)

In this latest film, Peter Parker (Spider-Man) and his high-school friends, first introduced in 2017's 'Spider-Man: Homecoming,' go on a student trip to Europe, where Peter plans to declare his love to MJ (Zendaya).

The film includes scenes in Spain, Venice, Prague, Berlin, Holland and London, where when fighting against villains wears a new black suit with a balaclava mask to conceal his identity as Spider-Man -- for which he receives the nickname 'Night Monkey.'

"Filming in Europe was a blessing because it allowed us to explore aspects of these characters that we have seen so many times," Holland said.

There are also a few jokes about the custom layers, which for some are outdated. Mysterio's suit has a large red cape, complemented by a helmet that looks like a round fish tank.

"I love my cape, my suit lights up like a pinwheel. I think it's really special. It weighed 1,000 lbs and almost literally broke my neck," Gyllenhaal said, winding up for a joke, "but thank God the Spandex was so tight that it kept it on."
