Britney Spears continues focusing on father’s health

Washington D.C.: American singer-songwriter Britney Spears is continuing to prioritise her father Jamie Spears' heath issues two months after the singer announced that she is halting all work to support her father, who is recovering from a colon rupture.

“Britney is continuing to focus on her family,” a source told People.

On Tuesday, report stated that Jamie will be undergoing a second surgery next week in order to fully repair his colon. This surgery, however, is expected to have a “longer recovery time,” added the outlet.

Back in January, the star had announced that she was putting her work on hold, including her ‘Britney: Domination’ concert, in light of her father’s sudden medical issues.

“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart,” an emotional Spears tweeted on January 4.

“However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him,” the singer shared in a follow-up tweet.

“I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family,” said Spears, whose new Las Vegas residency was set to launch at the Park Theatre at Park MGM last month.

“We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me,” added the singer in a statement obtained by People.

According to the statement, the 37-year-old singer’s father became “seriously ill” and was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas where his colon “spontaneously ruptured.”

Jamie also has other children including Bryan Spears (41) and Jamie Lynn Spears (27) with Britney’s mother, Lynne. The couple divorced in 2002 after three decades of marriage but reconciled in 2010.

The singer was gearing up for a return to the Las Vegas strip with ‘Domination’ tour after a successful Vegas show ‘Britney: Piece of Me’ tour last summer.

In recent years, the Spears has focused on motherhood over her music career, documenting her journey of parenting on her Instagram account.
