Birds of Prey trailer: Harley Quinn starts fresh without Joker

The first trailer of Margot Robbie starrer upcoming film Birds of Prey is finally out and it will see Margot reprising her role as Harley Quinn. The film is slated to hit the big screens on February 7, 2020.

Washington D.C.: The first trailer of the upcoming DC film Birds of Prey gives a taste of the chaos to come. The film features Margot Robbie who is returning as Harley Quinn.

The official Twitter handle of Birds of Prey shared the intriguing trailer with the caption, "Emancipate THIS. #BirdsOfPrey in theaters 2.7.20."

Margot debuted as Quinn in 2016 release Suicide Squad and now the actor will reprise the role in this girl-powered spin-off.

"You know what a harlequin is? A harlequin's role is to serve. It's nothin without a master," Quinn can be seen saying in the very beginning of the trailer.

"No one gives two s--s who we are beyond that," she continues as she takes a shot.

The Birds of Prey trailer shows Quinn dealing with her breakup with long-time lover Joker. It features the beloved clown's untold pain as she cuts her hair into bob and bangs.

"The Joker and I broke up," she explains in the trailer, adding "I wanted a fresh start. But it turns out I wasn't the only dame in Gotham looking for emancipation."

To get over her breakup, Harley explores the Gotham City in a way she hasn't ever before, along with her newfound girl-gang.

Harley's group of girlfriends include other iconic DC Comics ladies -- Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), all of whom team up to protect the young Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) from the villainous Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). Chris Messina stepping in as the bad guy Victor Zsasz.

The trailer shows Quinn's transformation from a heartbroken lover to a leader of a girl-gang who recruits women to become the Birds of Prey.

Directed by Cathy Yan, Bird of Prey is written by Christina Hodson and produced by Robbie. The film is slated to hit the big screens on on February 7, 2020.

Robbie will continue to play Quinn in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad 2, which will release on August 6, 2021.
