Los Angeles: Grammy-, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winner Queen Latifah received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards. But before she took the stage at Microsoft Theater on Sunday night, a slew of celebrities heaped praise on the 50-year-old multifaceted personality who has been a role model for artists of colour.
"I think it's her ability to break barriers and kind of go against the grain. She's always been so different but so true and so real and so connected at the same time, and I think that's a hard balance to find. And that's what I love about Queen Latifah," said H.E.R.

"You can't really pin Queen Latifah down in one particular genre because she's amazing at everything that she does," added Jazmine Sullivan. Meanwhile Rapsody said, "She means so much to the culture."
BET Awards are conducted by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year. BET awards ceremony, which became one of the first major awards to take place during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, returned this year as the first ceremony to invite vaccinated fans to be a part of the audience.
