Mumbai: The festival of Raksha Bandhan is observed to celebrate the special bond between brothers and sisters and on the auspicious occasion scores of Bollywood celebrities extended heartwarming wishes over social media.

To mark the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Amitabh Bachchan penned down a sweet note on the sibling bond and shared some pictures of his family members. The 77-year-old actor took to social media during the early hours of Monday and shared a collage that featured a childhood picture of the superstar with his sister, his children Abhishek Bachchan with Shweta Nanda, and his grandchildren Agstya Nanda and Aaradhya Bachchan.

Actor Sara Ali Khan took to Instagram and posted an adorable video with her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan as they shred some fun in a swimming pool. "When he says he's always got my back... he doesn't mean it. Happy Rakhi to all #brothersandsisters #partnerincrime #wortheverydime #forevermine #crazytime," the Simmba star captioned the video.

Kangana Ranaut outlined the entire journey of the sister-brother duo in the note and showered love over Akshat through the special note.

"Dear Aksht, When we were kids papa bought you plastic guns and cycles for me, I played with your guns and you rode my cycles, I love your sense of humor. There is never a dull moment with you, I know I have chosen my enemies beyond your reach but I notice your helplessness when they bully me," the wrote Queen actor

"I see that silent tear fall when they character assassin me, when I challenge the system parents may scold me and create a lot of noise but I don't miss you silently stand behind them conflicted and still," she added.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to Instagram and posted an extremely adorable throwback picture from her wedding ceremony in Jaipur. In the picture, Chopra is seen in the traditional red wedding lehenga as her brothers hold its four corners, as per a tradition in Indian weddings.

Along with the picture, she noted: "Happy Raksha Bandhan to everyone celebrating and to my incredible brood of brothers. I've always loved this special festival that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. I feel so blessed to have these wonderful, sensitive, supportive men in my corner always."

Noting that she misses her brothers, the Baywatch star added: "I miss you all so much. Sending lots of love and hugs and oh also...as part of the tradition... waiting for my gifts."

Reliving the childhood memory, Abhishek Bachchan shared a picture, in which the actor as a kid, is seen seated along with his sisters on the ground as he enjoyed a hearty meal with them.

"Happy Rakhi to the best sisters. I love you all." wrote the Drona actor, alongside the monochromatic picture.

Tagging sisters in the post he added, "Please don't kill me for posting this photo. (with a wink emoji) @shwetabachchan @nainabachchan @namritabachchan Nilima."

Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a glimpse of the celebration on Raksha Bandhan.

The actor put out a post on Instagram featuring the Kapoor family together during the special family lunch. The picture also features husband Saif Ali Khan and other family members including Ranbir Kapoor, sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Randhir Kapoor, Babita Kapoor, Ranbir and Alia Bhatt among others.

Actor Kartik Aaryan shared a glimpse of his Raksha Bandhan celebration on Instagram. Sharing a photo of him along with his sister, the actor wrote: "Jab behen doctor ho toh Raksha ki zimmedari bhi uski @dr.kiki_ blessing me !! Happy Rakshabandhan Everyone."

Vicky Kaushal took to Instagram and shared cute pictures of his sweet little sister. In the first picture, his little sister is seen dressed in a lehenga is seen putting a traditional red dot on his forehead. The second picture features Vicky's wrist full of stone-studded rakhis. Keeping the caption simple, he wrote, "#HappyRakshaBandhan."

Celebrating the festival of Raksha Bandhan with sister, actor Taapsee Pannu showcased her special "sister squad" rakhi on Instagram. In the picture, the Pink star is seen posing along with her sister Evania Pannu, as they tied the same rakhi on each other's wrists. "Raksha toh hum bhi Ek doosre ki karte hi hai.#HappyRakshabandhan," she wrote.

Actor-dancer Malaika Arora marked Raksha Bandhan by thanking her actor sister Amrita Arora for playing multiple roles in her life including that of a brother.

The Chhaiya Chhaiya star took to Instagram to share a stunning picture of herself with her sister and complimented it with a long emotional note on sisterhood.

Genelia Deshmukh shared an emotional picture of her wedding on Instagram and penned a note for her brother. In the picture, the actor's brother is seen in tears while he hugs Genelia on her wedding day. Along with the picture, she noted, "I know I mean the world to you but when I see this picture it makes me believe how blessed I am to have you 'We may be as different as the sun and moon, but the same blood flows through our hearts... I will always need you, as much as you need me' Happy RakshaBandhan NiguPigu."

Rakshabandhan has stood out for gender parity and equality for former Miss World and actor Manushi Chillar, thanks to her doctor parents Mitra Basu and Neelam, the actor revealed on Monday.

"In the Chillar household, the festival celebrating the bond between brother and sister has been an extremely significant occasion to teach the kids some important life values," said Chillar.

Soha Ali Khan also posted an old picture where she is seen posing with brother Saif Ali Khan. However, a large number of users mistook the duo in the photo to be Sara and Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Soha's picture was meant to wish Saif on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. "There's no denying you are the coolest brother I know. And there s no denying I don't know the first thing about being cool! #happyrakshabandhan bhai #throwback," she wrote on Instagram, along with the vintage picture, where she and Saif pose in front of a car.

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Kriti took to social media to express her feelings for her sister. "I remember the moment I held you for the first time.. or maybe I've just made my own version of that memory in my head..I felt you were so precious that I needed to hold you correctly with utmost care and love.. Protect you, make you smile..giggle..Never missed having a brother.. Because I knew I got my best friend for life.. I knew you had the ability to make me smile in my lowest moments (and annoy me in seconds too!) Love you Nups!! May you always laugh like a kid! You are my forever favourite and I'll always have your back! No matter what! @nupursanon #HappyRakhi," Kriti wrote on Instagram.
