Hyderabad: Telugu superstars Ram Charan and Jr NTR will be sharing the screen space for the first time in filmmaker SS Rajamouli's most awaited film RRR. Since the leading men in RRR enjoy a huge fanbase in both Telugu-speaking states, it was an exciting challenge for screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad to strike the balance and not let the star power overpower the story and dilute it.
RRR is said to be one of the costliest films ever produced in India. The film is a fictional account starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR as freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who fought against British and the Nizam of Hyderabad. When asked whether the story of RRR was written with Ram Charan and Jr NTR in mind, Vijayendra Prasad, the most sought-after screenwriter in the nation said, "Yes."

Sharing more on the process, Vijayendra Prasad in a virtual interview with a film critic said, "The moment we had these two freedom fighters Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sita Ramaraju immediately he (Rajamouli) thought, these are the two people (Charan and Jr NTR) with whom he has worked already. There is good chemistry between the two leading stars and the director and they are fitting the bill perfectly. The 79-year-old writer further added that they never had "any second thought about the lead cast."
Explaining more on how star image intertwined with the story writing for RRR Vijayendra Prasad further said, "We had star image in our mind but never wanted to dilute the story. There are a lot of expectations as these two stars are coming together for the first time and we should not do adjustments to any part and at the same time it has to be true to our story."
The film which also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles is slated to release on October 13.
