Mumbai: Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's War has set the box office on fire. The action drama has registered a humungous business on its opening day.
According to trade reports, Hirthik-Tiger's maiden collaboration has created history at the box office and has set a new benchmark for the Hindi film industry. The film which was released on Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, has surpassed the opening day business of Thugs Of Hindustan (₹ 50 cr) despite lower screen count.
War, which is being screened on 5350 screens worldwide, has registered ₹ 53.35 cr which is the highest Day 1 business for a Hindi film. The film is also Hrithik and Tiger's career-best opener so far.
The numbers are fantastic for a film that did not have a solo release. War had to share screens with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's ambitious film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. In major metros, Hollywood biggie Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix is also giving tough competition to Hindi releases. In such a scenario, War box office collection has kickstarted on a very positive note.
