Vicky Kaushal remembers soldiers martyred in 2016 Uri attack

Vicky Kaushal paid homage to the brave soldiers who martyred in the 2016 Uri attack in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi: Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal who played the role of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the 2019 hit film Uri: The Surgical Strike remembered the brave souls who lost their lives in the deadly Uri attack that shook the nation three years ago.

On September 18, 2016, some Indian Army soldiers lost their lives after they were attacked by some heavily armed terrorists in the Uri town in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking to his Instagram story, Vicky shared a picture of the martyred soldiers altogether in a frame."Remembering the brave hearts we lost on this day 3 years in the Uri attack," he wrote alongside the picture.

However, just 11 days after the day, the Indian Army retaliated with what came to be known as the surgical strikes against some militant launch pads.

Uri: The Surgical Strike which released earlier this year was based on these 2016 surgical strikes and featured Vicky in the lead.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film also starred Paresh Rawal as the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Yami Gautam as a no-nonsense interrogation officer.

Vicky was awarded the Best Actor award for his stellar performance in Uri: The Surgical Strike at the 66th National Film Awards.

On the work front, Vicky has a string of interesting projects lined up next for him including the horror film Bhoot - Part One: The Haunted Ship and the biographical drama Sardar Udham Singh.

The actor will also soon start shooting for filmmaker Karan Johar's period drama Takht. Set in the Mughal era, the film also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor.
