Kolkata: Veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, health officials said.
He has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata, they said.
The octogenarian actor was unwell and he tested positive for the infection on Tuesday morning, a senior health official said.

"His samples were tested for COVID-19 on Monday and the reports came today," he added.
Chatterjee is famous for portraying ace detective Feluda based on Ray's Feluda series. His other cinematic milestones include Apur Sansar (The World of Apu), Aparajito (The Unvanquished), Charulata (The Lonely Wife), Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in a Forest) and Ashani Sanket (Distant Thunder).
Chatterjee, whose acting career spans over six decades, has acted in 14 of master director Satyajit Ray films.
