Thadam remake: Sidharth Malhotra's loss Aditya Roy Kapur's gain?

Around the same time last year, the news of Sidharth Malhotra being roped in to play double role in the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thadam made headlines. The actor, however, has bowed out of the project following which the makers have now signed Aditya Roy Kapur to headline the film.

Hyderabad: Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra has opted out of the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster film Thadam. The film with Vardhan Ketkar at the helm went through major changes including screenplay and schedule which apparently led to Sidharth bowing out of the project.

In March 2020, the Kabir Singh makers Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani announced Hindi remake of Thadam with Sidharth and Mrunal Thakur in the lead. The action sequence based on true events was scheduled to go on the floors in May 2020 but the entire planning has gone for a toss due to COVID-19.

The reason for Sidharth's exit from the film is said to be his reservations about the new screenplay. According to the latest buzz, the makers have now roped in Aditya Roy Kapur to play the double role to save the film which went in a limbo after Malhotra's exit. While Sid is no more part of the project, Mrunal continues to be the leading lady of the film. Aditya will commence work on Thadam remake after he wraps up OM: The Battle Within.
