Telangana court stays release of Amitabh Bachchan's Jhund

Hyderabad based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar had recently sent legal notices to makers of Jhund and starrer Amitabh Bachchan for copyright infringement, as known. Now, a Telangana court has ordered a complete stay on the release of the sports-drama in India, abroad and digital platforms.

Mumbai:Megastar Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund is in legal trouble. The release of Big B's film has been stayed by the Kukatpally Court in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana.

It all started after a Hyderabad based filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar had sent legal notices to makers and Amitabh for copyright infringement.

The petitioner has claimed copyright infringement stating he has exclusive rights to the story of footballer Akhilesh Paul on whose life the film is based. The petitioner has alleged in his claims that the footballer Akhilesh Paul cheated him.

The Paa actor features the role of football coach Vijay Barse, founder of NGO Soccer Slum, in Jhund.

The flick will mark the reunion of the Sairat couple Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Raaj Hiremath, Savita Raj Hiremath and Nagraj Manjule, under the banner of T-Series, Tandav Films and Aatpat Production.
