Amrita Pritam (1919-2005) was an acclaimed Punjabi poet-writer. She was born in Gujranwala (now in Pakistan) and is well-known for her poem Ajj Aakhaan Waris Shah Nu, writing expressing the horrors and anguish of Partition.
Earlier on Sunday, Anubhav Sinha took to Twitter and announced the release date of the film.
"Eleven is an auspicious number and this is my eleventh film and probably the toughest so far. Keep us blessed. This one is dedicated to the women of India. See you on March 6, 2020," he tweeted.
Thappad is a women-centric film based on the late acclaimed poet-novelist Amrita Pritam and hence the makers opted for a release date around women's day next year.
