Hyderabad: Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 'Article 15' released today amid huge backlash and protests by Brahman Samaj for what it called belittling the community. While it has opened to a great response from the critics, ETV Bharat brings to how the public reacted to the movie.
The movie puts forth the serious issue of casteism based on the inequity and disparity that exists in this modern society.
While some feel that 'Article 15' might bring a change in society, others feel that it won't make any difference in the shallow thinking of the society.
The movie sparked protests by many Hindu communities claiming that it shows the brahmans and mahants in a poor light.
On Thursday, the women wing of the Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj staged protest against the release of the film in Bhopal. They thronged Rang Mahal theatre in the city to stall the release of 'Article 15' in Madhya Pradesh. The women wing also said that if the film releases they will file an FIR against its director.

Earlier, the Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Mahasangh along with other Hindu communities protested against 'Article 15' at Haridwar-Ranipur burning the effigy of the producer.
Initially, it was reported that 'Article 15' is inspired by the Badaun rape and murder case which apparently upset the Brahmins. However, the makers never admitted that it is based on the heinous crime that took place five years ago. Moreover, the plot of the film suggests that it is purely based on the caste system that prevails in the society.
On May 28, 2014, two girls were found hanging from a branch of a mango tree in Katra Sadatganj village. The teenagers aged 14 and 15 went missing the previous evening when they had gone to relieve themselves in the wee hours of the ill-fated day.
Even the victim's family in the Badaun rape case also said that they will approach the court to stall the release of the film. As 'Article 15' hits theatres today they have been given protection by the police.
The movie based on the true story emphasizes on 'Article 15' of the Indian Constitution which states the prohibition of discrimination on grounds of religion, caste, race, sex or place of birth.
Well, we really hope for a change as it is a matter of national importance which needs to bring out discussions, to say the least.
