Kolkata: Veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee was shifted to Intensive Care Unit in a private hospital late Friday night after the 85-year-old's health deteriorated. The CEO of the hospital on Saturday said that the actor is gradually improving.
Pradip Tondon, CEO of Belle Vue Clinic where the actor is being treated from last week, said that the actor is gradually responding to the treatment.
"He is improving gradually but will take time to improve more because of the comorbidity problem which he has since beginning," said Pradip.
Briefing about Chatterjee's health condition, Mr Tondon further said that the actor has encephalitis in brain due to COVID. "We have done the CT scan and did not find any complication," he said.
Chatterjee, who had tested coronavirus positive on October 5, was suffering from several comorbidities. He was immediately shifted to an ICU for close monitoring.
