Mumbai: Amid the coronavirus scare, actor Sonu Sood has come to the rescue of almost 3000 students stranded in Kyrgyzstan, among which 20 pupils are from Bihar and Jharkhand.

Taking to Twitter, the actor wrote: "This is to inform to all the students of Kyrgyzstan that it’s time to come home. We are operating the first charter Bishkek -Varanasi on 22nd July. The details of which will be sent to your email id and mobile phones in a while. Charters for other states will also fly this week."

Sonu's noble effort has got support from former Baharagora MLA Kunal Sarangi and social worker Rekha Mishra.

On July 14, a student pursuing medical science in Asian Medical Institute (AMI) tweeted a video to Kunal Sarangi, seeking help and evacuation.

Tagging the Ministry of External Affairs and the Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren, Sarangi retweeted the video.

"One of the 20 students from Jharkhand and Bihar is from Jamshedpur. It would not have been possible without the active efforts by Sonu Sood. He had contacted Yadav, one of the students, on the mobile number shared by them in the video message," said the former Baharagora MLA.

Thanking the Dabangg star, Kunal Sarangi and Rekha Mishra, Saddam Khan, one of the stranded medical students from Jharkhand, wrote: "We thank Sonu Sood, Kunal Sarangi and Rekha Mishra for their collective effort to help 3000 Indian students pursuing medical degree at Asian Medical Institute (AMI) in Kyrgyzstan, one of the many nations worst hit by global pandemic Covid-19. The process to rescue us and evacuate us has started and Sonu Sood has assured us that we need not pay any flight charge for our journey back to India."
