Sonali, Ayaan speak their heart out on World Cancer Day

Sonali Bendre shared important information about cancer and Emraan Hashmi's son Ayaan Hashmi incited the ones battling cancer with his heart-touching speech.

Mumbai: Actor Sonali Bendre and Emraan Hashmi's son Ayaan Hashmi who are cancer survivors were snapped at an event organised for World Cancer day on Tuesday. Sonali shared an important information about genetic testing while, Ayaan inspired many who are battling cancer.

"A huge part of cancer which I would like to underline is genetics and more data you have on it, the more doctors can help us. Anybody who had cancer in their families, do the genetic testing because the moment you that you are giving doctors data which is going to enable them in their research. It's going to help the society, community as a whole."

"Cancer is horrible in many ways but it has taught me so much, how to be strong, happy, joyful and how to enjoy life. I was scared when I came to know that I had cancer. Cancer can be cured, all you need to do is change your mindset and get a right treatment. You don't have to loose hope because cancer can be treated," the 10-year-old said.

Sonali was diagnosed with a 'high-grade cancer' that had metastised. She had to go to New York to get treatment. She became a beacon of inspiration to millions of fans, as she continuously shared updates of her treatment and was determined to "switch on the sunshine" in her words.

Ayaan was diagnosed with a rare case of kidney cancer in 2014 at the age of three.
