Hyderabad:Bollywood's ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Gangubai Kathiawadi which is under production has got entangled in legal trouble. Seeking halt on production, Gangubai’s son Babuji Rawji Shah has filed a case against makers Bhansali, Alia Bhatt and reporter Jane Borges on December 20, reports suggest.
In the film that revolves around a brothel owner and matriarch, Alia will be seen playing a mafia queen who was also known as The Madame Of Kamathipura. The film is based on The Mafia Queens of Mumbai book, which is written by Hussain Zaidi with original research done by Jane Borges.

According to a leading webloid report, in his petition, Gangubai’s son Babuji has called the book defamatory in nature and an infringement upon the right to privacy, self-respect and liberty. Babuji has sought the deletion of specific chapters and halting the production of the film.

Bhansali is no novice when it comes to courting controversies for his films. In 2018, the filmmaker went through turbulent times when his film Padmaavat had sparked protests across India and was banned in four major markets -- Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
