Shelving Varun Dhawan starrer Mr Lele 'blessing in disguise', says Shashank Khaitan. Read why

Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan who was all set to call shots for Varun Dhawan starrer Mr Lele has opened up on why the team decided to shelve the film for time being. Khaitan feels the decision to hold off the project has proved to be a "blessing in disguise. Read on to find out what makes Shashank think so.

Mumbai: Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan's directorial venture Mr Lele featuring Varun Dhawan got axed even before it took off. The filmmaker, however, has a positive perspective towards it and said shelving the film has only done good to all involved.

Earlier this year, Dhawan had announced that his film Mr Lele has indefinitely been "postponed" because of clashing dates. Khaitan too had conformed Mr Lele being shelved in a social media post while busting fake casting call for the film.

In a conversation with webloid, Shashank has now revealed why he feels shelving Mr Lele turned out to be a wise decision. Talking about the film, Shashank said, “As per our original plan, we were supposed to start filming on March 13. The (suspension of shoots) was announced on March 15. So, the stalling of our film was a blessing in disguise; otherwise, we would have ended up spending a lot more on the pre-production.”

While not ruling out the possibility of reviving the film in future, Shashank also spoke about why the film was stalled.

“We were not able to form a flow for the shoot. It was a small film that was to be based in Mumbai, but things were not falling in place. I kept feeling that something is not right. Since Karan [Johar, producer], Varun and I collectively felt it, we decided to hold off the project for the time being,” he said.

Mr Lele was to mark yet another collaboration between Varun, producer Karan Johar and Khaitan after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
