Shahid Kapoor extends monetary help to 40 dancers

Shahid Kapoor has come forward to lend a helping hand to background dancers in need during the ongoing pandemic. The actor transferred money to 40 dancers with whom he has worked in the past.

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who had started his career as a background dancer in films like Taal and Dil Toh Pagal, extended monetary help to 40 such dancers with whom he has worked in past.

Reports suggest that the Kabir Singh actor transferred money to the bank accounts of around 40 dancers with whom he had worked in the past in movies such as Ishq Vishq and Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.

Raj Surani, a former Bollywood dancer who is now a coordinator, told a leading daily: "Shahid Kapoor recently transferred money to the bank accounts of dancers he has worked. He has extended support to around 40 and has stated that he will help them for the next 2 to 3 months."

The 39-year-old actor has till now helped 20 dancers from choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan's team and 20 from choreographer Bosco Martis' group.

On the work front, Shahid will next be seen in Jersey, which is a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit of the same name. The story is about a talented but failed cricketer who decides to make a comeback in his late thirties and play for India, in order to fulfil his son's wish.

The Hindi version also features Mrunal Thakur. The film is presented by Allu Aravind, and produced by Aman Gill and Dil Raju.
