Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday questioned the Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee for more than six hours for his alleged connection with the Rose Valley chit fund scam.

On July 9, 2019, the actor's production house was issued a summon in relation to the money his company allegedly received from the Rose Valley Group.

Following the interrogation, the actor who came out from the ED office at around 6 p.m said that he has submitted all necessary documents that the officials sought and further added that he has fully cooperated with the agency officials.

Coming out from the ED office in Kolkata, he said, "They had certain questions and wanted me to submit certain documents. As a responsible citizen of India, I have fully cooperated with them and completed all formalities. I have told them that I will be there if they require any further cooperation from me in future as well."

On Thursday, Rituparna Sengupta, a prominent face in the Bengali film industry was also questioned for nearly seven hours regarding the transactions between the company and her firm.

Unravelled in 2013, the ponzi scheme was run by the Chairman of Rose Valley Gautam Kundu.

The group allegedly floated 27 companies to run various schemes and collected Rs 17,520 crore from depositors in West Bengal, Assam and Bihar.

ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) have been jointly investigating the scam.

Rose Valley's ponzi scheme scam has assets including resorts, hotels and land worth Rs 2,300 crore. During searches made at the showrooms of a jewellery house in connection with the scam, it recovered incriminating documents, gold ornaments and precious stones worth Rs 40 crore.
