Riteish, Genelia donates Rs 25 Lakh for Maharastra flood victims

Mumbai: Bollywood actors Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza have extended support to the Maharashtra flood victims. The couple has donated Rs 25 lakhs towards Chief Minister Relief Fund for Maharashtra flood situation.

CM Devendra Fadnavis has expressed gratitude for their generous contribution.

Sharing an image of the couple handing over the cheque to Fadnavis, he tweeted on Monday: "Thank you Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh for the contribution of Rs 25,00,000/- (Rs 25 lakh) towards CM Relief Fund for Maharashtra floods."

Expressing concern over the havoc flood situation, Riteish wrote on Twitter: "Over the past few days the floods have caused havoc in Maharashtra & other parts of the country...the visuals have been distressing and disturbing, @geneliad and myself met our Hon CM this morning and made a humble contribution towards the CM Relief Fund through ‘Desh Foundation’.

The gigantic Koyna Dam which has its reservoir spread across 890 sq km possess a capacity of 100 TMC. More than 50 TMC was filled up in only nine days this year.

Over 3.78 lakh people have been shifted to 432 temporary relief camps in flood-hit Sangli, Kolhapur and Satara districts.

Urging everyone to stand for the affected mass, he further wrote on Twitter: "We sincerely urge everyone to come forward and stand by those affected. Together we can achieve a lot."
