Rani Mukerji feels essence of Ma Durga in Mardaani 2

Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji says there is an essence of Ma Durga in Mardaani 2 and hence she is happy that the teaser of the film released during the Durga Puja festival.

Mumbai: Rani Mukerji, who will be back on screen as a feisty cop in her upcoming film Mardaani 2, says she is glad that the teaser was released during Durga Puja festival as she feels there is an essence of Ma Durga in Mardaani 2.

In a recent media interaction, Rani, who came to seek the blessings of Ma Durga at North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja, said, "I feel glad that we released the first look and the teaser of Mardaani 2 during Durga Puja festival. During this festival, we worship Ma Durga, who is known as a symbol of strength and there is an essence of Ma Durga in Mardaani 2, so I feel happy that we communicated with the audience for the first time for Mardaani 2 during Durga Puja festival."

Rani Mukerji is back on screen as the feisty cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in her upcoming release Mardaani 2. The film revolves around the life of tough cop Shivani Roy who fights crimes against women.

Mardaani 2 is being promoted with the hashtag "she won't stop", which forms the gist of the story. The teaser begins with a tense moment when armed cops can be seen entering a gated area. Rani, dressed in uniform, can be seen gearing up to take charge of the situation.

According to reports, in Mardaani 2 Rani will be seen pitted against a 21-year-old menacing villain who can be called pure evil.

Mardaani 2, which is a sequel to the 2014 Mardaani, marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, who wrote the first film in the franchise.

Produced by Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films, Mardaani 2 has been shot extensively in Jaipur and other parts of Rajasthan.

The cop-drama will hit the big screens on December 13.
