Auguste & Louis Lumiere held their first private screening of projected motion pictures on March 22, 1895. The first film was shot outside their factory as the workers left after finishing their day at work.
It was shown to the Société d’Encouragement à l’Industrie Nationale in Paris. This was reportedly the first public screen of moving pictures.
Famous for inventing the cinematograph and the autochrome, Lumière Brothers are among the most significant figures in film and photography history.
