Hyderabad:Taking inspiration from the men's team that got into the medal rounds after a gap of four decades, Indian women's hockey scripted a historic moment of their own by making their maiden entry into the semifinals at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Monday. Celebrating the historic moment, celebrities like Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Neha Dhupia and others have lauded the team for giving the nation 'real Chak De India' moment.
Lauding the women hockey team, Taapse, who has played the sport in two of her films, Manmarziyaan and Soorma, took to Twitter and wrote, "Our chakk de moment never felt more real! Our girls beat Aussies 1-0 and storm into semis !!!! Go for it @imranirampal your girls have our heart! Flag of IndiaRaising hands."
While speaking to reporters outside Rajya Sabha, actor and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan said, "I hope the women's hockey team advances to the final and win it, and make the country proud."
