Not a star-kid! Karan Johar to launch Lakshya with Dostana 2

Producer-filmmaker Karan Johar has confirmed launching a new face, Lakshya in his upcoming production Dostana 2.

Mumbai: Debutant Lakshya will be joining the star cast of Dostana 2, confirmed Karan Johar on Thursday. The newbie has no Bollywood connections and made his way to the film through a legit audition process.

Lakshya will be seen alongside actors Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor in the second instalment of 2008 hit romantic comedy Dostana.

Taking to his Instagram on Thursday, Karan posted a few pictures of Lakshya introducing him as the new kid on the Dharma block.

"Both happy and excited to introduce the new kid on the Dharma block! LAKSHYA will be making his debut with us in #DOSTANA2 and from thereon, we hope to start a solid cinematic journey together! Please welcome @itslakshya and shower him with all your love and blessings...," read the caption.

The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil filmmaker further clarified that Lakshya doesn't belong to a star background in any way.

Karan tweeted, "Yes I woke up to several inquiries asking about his film industry connections!!! He is NOT from the business and went through a legit audition process !! Am grateful to Shanoo Sharma for introducing LAKSHYA to @DharmaMovies."

Lakshya has a four-film contract with Dharma, which includes films and digital projects.

Dostana which was directed by Tarun Mansukhani featured Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles.

The story revolved around two men who pretend to be a gay couple to secure an apartment. Both fall in love with the same girl.

Dostana 2 is directed by Collin D'Cunha and co-written by Navjot Gulati, Sumit Aroraa, Rishabh Sharma and D'Cunha.

However, details regarding the sequel are kept under tight wraps.
