Mumbai: Members of music fraternity mourned the demise of music legend Pandit Jasraj in the US. Celebrities including singer Lata Mangeshkar, lyricist Javed Akhtar, and others paid their tributes to the Indian classical vocalist and described his passing away as an irreparable loss to India and its cultural heritage.
Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar posted on Twitter," Mahan shashtriya gayak aur maa Saraswati ke upasak Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji ke swargwas ki khabar sunkar mujhe aseem dukh hua."
"Ishwar unki aatma ko shanti de main yehi prarthana karti hun," she added.
Asha Bhosle is saddened by the demise of the iconic Indian classical vocalist. In a statement released by the 86-year-old singer, she expressed sorrow over the demise of her "big brother" and legendary musician.
"#RIPPanditJasraj Indian classical music has lost one of its shining stars," tweeted Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman.
Music composer Vishal Dadlani, on the other hand, extended condolences to "music itself" on the demise of the music maestro.
"Just heard of the passing of the Legendary #PanditJasraj Ji. My condolence to music itself, and to every musician on the planet. A truly monumental loss," he tweeted.
"My heart goes out to my friends Jatin & Lalit Pandit, Shweta & Shraddha Pandit & of course @DurgaJasraj ji, and the family," his tweet further read.
