Mithali Raj biopic gets release date, Taapsee shares first look poster

Taapsee Pannu starrer Mithali Raj biopic titled Shabaash Mithu is set to release on February 5, next year. Sharing the first look poster from the movie, film's lead Taapsee has announced the news on social media.

Mumbai: The makers of Shabaash Mithu, a biopic on Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj, have announced the film's release date on Wednesday.

The film starring Taapsee Pannu in the lead will release on February 5, 2021.

Hopping on to Instagram, the Pink actor also shared the first look poster of the movie.

Alongside the photo, she wrote: "I have always been asked who’s your favourite male cricketer but you should ask them who their favourite female cricketer is. The statement that made every cricket lover pause n introspects that do they love the game or the gender playing it. Skipper, u will be the ultimate 'Game Changer'! @mithaliraj #ShabaashMithu @rahulpdholakia @viacom18studios #AjitAndhare @priyaaven."

Best known for making movies such as Raees, Lamhaa and Parzania, the biographical drama will be directed by Rahul Dholakia.

The script of Shabaash Mithu has been penned by Priya Aven.

Mithali Raj is the former captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team in Tests and ODIs. She is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in WODIs.

Earlier, in an interview with PTI, Taapsee said: "It’s going to be difficult. I only watch cricket, I’ve never played it. It will be a challenge."

"Mithali has already said that she will watch how I play the cover drive so now I am dreaming about cover drives," she added.
