Priyanka clears air on COVID-19 misinformation

In the wake of spurt in coronavirus cases in India and abroad, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas who is also the goodwill ambassador of UNICEF took to social media to clear the air on the growing COVID-19 misinformation.

Mumbai: In an attempt to minimise the growing misinformation around the novel coronavirus, global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Tuesday shared important and authentic details about COVID-19 from UNICEF.

The actor took to Twitter to share the information with her followers and admirers.

"Misinformation during a health crisis can leave us unprotected, spread fear & panic. Knowing the facts is key to protecting yourself & your family," tweeted The Sky is Pink actor.

"Visit the @UNICEFwebsite for reliable information on how to talk to children about #coronavirus," she added along with a link to UNICEF's article on COVID-19.

Globally, the virus, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has infected more than 167,500 people and killed 6600.

In the wake of spurt in cases of coronavirus across the country, the Central Government on Saturday decided to treat the deadly virus as a "notified disaster."

As of Sunday, the total cases of coronavirus reported in India is 107, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

On the work front, the actor has a few interesting projects in her kitty. She will be seen in Ramin Bahrani's The White Tiger. The film also features her The Sky Is Pink co-star Farhan Akhtar.

Besides, the Isn't it Beautiful actor has Robert Rodriguez's We can Be Heroes and Lana Wachowski's The Matrix 4 in the pipeline.
