Hyderabad: The announcement about Kartik Aaryan starring in an action film first time in his career was made last February. The audience was eager to see his action avatar in a film helmed by Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director Om Raut. The film was almost shelved but the director has said that he is still very excited to make the actioner with Kartik.

The untitled film was billed as an action thriller in 3D backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The makers had plans to shoot the film in India and various locations abroad. Back then, Bhushan had said, "It's been a long successful association with Kartik right from SKTKS, PPAW and now Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. With the script Om has written, Kartik fits the role to a T. It's Om's vision and passion for cinema which I saw with Tanhaji which made me want to back his next as well. This will be T-Series' first with this kind of a movie which will be a fast-paced action film on a heist."

Talking about the project with a leading daily, now Om has said that the film with Kartik was set up in a place where they could no longer travel due to COVID-19. He also admitted that it’s a difficult film to make but he is still very excited about it.

Reacting to the reports of film being shelved, he further said, "Whenever I get a chance, I will get on with it. The film has not been shelved, only deferred for now. The lockdown was a downer for everyone, but it somehow worked for me. I got ample time with my family and I clocked in over 14 hours of work every day. I had a chance to revisit my old scripts and story dockets. Adipurush is one of the stories that I had worked on a while back. I pulled it out, and during the lockdown, I completed the script and the screenplay."

Meanwhile, Kartik will next be seen in upcoming thriller Dhamaka that casts him as a journalist who covers the live broadcast of a terror attack in Mumbai. The film is directed by Ram Madhvani, who earlier called the shots on the film Neerja as well as the web series Aarya.
