Kangana's reaction on KJo's Padma Shri win, says 'he totally deserves it'

As Kangana has been bestowed with Padma Shri - India's fourth-highest civilian award alongside filmmaker Karan Johar, the former congratulated the later saying he is a deserving candidate for the award.

Mumbai: Bygones are bygones. Actor Kangana Ranaut, who was involved in a war of words with Karan Johar on nepotism, has lauded the later on his Padma Shri win saying that he "totally deserves" to be honoured with the prestigious award.

In a recent interview with a media outlet, the Panga actor extended heartiest congratulations to the filmmaker.

She said: "I heartily congratulate him. I think he totally deserves this award. As a producer, the kind of films he backs, whether it is Kesari or Good Newwz, are commendable, as is the position he has worked to achieve. Even though his father gave him a head start, he has risen to the top because of his own efforts and merits."

Beside Karan, producer Ekta Kapoor and musician Adnan Sami were also feted with the Padma Shri awards alongside Kangana by the Government of India.

Apart from showering praises for the Lust Stories director, the Judgementall Hai Kya actor confessed that she felt proud to share the same stage with Ekta Kapoor and Adnan Sami whom she used to look up as a child.

She added: "I started my journey from a small village in Himachal Pradesh, and for me to be in the same league as these bigwigs we have grown up watching, whether it is Karan’s films or Ekta Kapoor’s serials... We knew these people, growing up. And who has not heard Adnan Sami ji’s songs? For a girl like me, to get a Padma Shri alongside them is a matter of pride."

Days back both Kangana and Karan took to social media to share the overwhelming joy on their latest recognition.
