Hyderabad: Newbie Meezaan's performance in debut film Malaal got everyone talking about him being a promising star. But the actor is more in the headlines for his alleged relationship with Amitabh Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda than his acting prowess as his second film Hungama 2 is yet to hit the screens.
Earlier, Meezaan had opened up on dating rumours with Big B's grand-daughter Navya, saying they are only "friends".
"There is no relationship. We are friends, and friends also have a relationship. It's not always a boyfriend and girlfriend thing. Just because we get papped outside the theatre leaving with friends, it does not mean we are dating," Meezaan had once said on a chat show while promoting Malaal.
The curiosity around Meezaan's love life has increased so much so that his father, Jaaved Jaaferi, who is around in the industry for more than three decades, is also being asked if there is any truth to rumours about Navya's and his son's relationship.

In the latest interview with a leading daily, Jaaved was asked about his son being in the news over his alleged relationship with Navya, to which he replied, "People want content. Being good friends with somebody is considered to be something else always. These children have grown up together; my daughter and Navya have been friends since school. They have a common group of friends. Even Sara Ali Khan and Meezan were in the same school. They used to come home, hang around till 3 am. It is convenient to link them up as they are always together."
Interestingly, when Meezaan in a chat show was asked whom he would like to kill, marry and hook-up with, between Navya, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday, the actor chose Navya for marriage, Sara for a hook-up and decided to kill Ananya. Back then, his answer had added fuel to the already rife rumours about their hush-hush romance.
On the work front, Meezaan has recently wrapped up shoot of Priyadarshan's upcoming film, Hungama 2, featuring Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Pranitha Subhash. The film is likely to get a theatrical release in the summer.
