Hrithik's grandfather J Om Prakash passes away at 93

Om Prakash's nephew and actor Deepak Parashar confirmed the news of his demise on Wednesday morning.

Mumbai: Veteran director and film producer J Om Prakash took his last breath on Wednesday. He was 93 at the time of his death.

Actor Deepak Parashar confirmed the news of his uncle's death on Twitter. Grandfather of Hrithik Roshan died at 8 am in his own residence.

Deeply saddened by his uncle's demise, Parashar tweeted: "My dearest uncle Mr J Om Prakash passed away about an hour ago 😞 So saddened as he joins his friend, my Mamaji Mr Mohan Kumar in heaven! Their contributions to Indian cinema is a gift they left behind for us! Took this pic few months ago when went to see him! Om Shanti!"

His funeral will be held at Pawan Hans Vile Parle West in Mumbai at 12:30 pm on August 7.

Last month, Hrithik posted a couple of pictures with his grandfather on Twitter calling him his super teacher.

A few films that have marked Om Prakash's directorial expertise were 'Aap Ki Kasam', 'Aakhir Kyon', 'Apnapan' among others.

Stepping into the producer's role, his film 'Aandhi' was critically acclaimed though flop at the box office.

Following the news of his demise, celebrities have poured in condolences for the bereaved family.
