Here's Kangana Ranaut's take on Deepika Padukone's JNU visit

Reacting to Deepika Padukone’s visit to JNU, Kangana Ranaut stated that she is not supposed to decide what Deepika would do, adding that she won’t support the tukde gang and the people who celebrate at a jawan's death.

Mumbai: Actor Kangana Ranaut, who has appreciated Deepika Padukone's latest release Chhapaak, recently commented on the latter's visit to Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.

In a recent interview, the Manikarnika actor said that Deepika is "exercising her democratic right," and wondered why she should have an opinion on what Deepika is doing. Kangana further stated that Deepika "very well knows what she is doing."

Having said that, Kangana added: "I definitely don't want to stand behind the tukde gang for whatever happens. I don't want to support anyone who divides the nation. I don't want to empower those who don't have the nation's welfare in their mind, who celebrates when a jawan dies."

"If it is for the betterment of the nation you can see that. But if you are trying to think about about your betterment, your gains and profits, people can see through that also. People can see the agenda behind it," she added further.

Days before the release of Chhapaak, hashtag Boycott Chhapaak climbed up the Twitter trend list.

When asked if the negative propaganda affects the film's business, she said: "A film has to work on its own merit. There are very few percentages of Indians on Twitter & when a movie is good, trust me, even the enemies go and watch it. Nobody can resist a good film."

Kangana Ranaut, whose sister Rangoli Chandel is an acid attack survivor, had earlier posted a video praising Deepika and Meghna Gulzar for making Chhapaak.

"I and my entire family thank Deepika Padukone and Meghna Gulzar for making a film on this subject so that the victims of acid attacks find strength. Chhapaak is also a tight slap on the face of the perpetrators, who might have succeeded in their actions, but not intentions."

"I hope in this new year, the sale of acid is stopped and we become free of acid attacks. I send all my wishes to the team of Chhapaak," said Kangana in the video.
