HBD Shakti Kapoor, Bollywood's favourite villain!

Today marks the 67th birthday of Bollywood's infamous villain Shakti Kapoor. The actor who has been active in the industry for over 40 years has devoted himself to the world of Hindi Cinema. Popular for villainous as well as comic roles, Shakti Kapoor was featured in more than 700 films. On his special day, ETV Bharat brings to you the life of the 'villainous' Kapoor.

Mumbai: The dialogues "Nandu Sabka Bandhu" and "Aaaooo Lolita" from the 1994 movie Raja Babu and the 1984 movie Tohfa resonates with the Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor. As the actor marked his 67th birthday on Tuesday, we bring to you a life of the antagonist Kapoor.

Born as Sunil Sikanderlal Kapoor on September 3, 1952, the talented actor has been featured in over 700 films throughout his career.

It was during the making of Rocky when actor Sunil Dutt suggested that his name Sunil Sikanderlal Kapoor wouldn't do justice to his villainous stint. Hence Shakti Kapoor was born for performing the ideal antagonist in the movie.

During his initial struggling period in Bollywood, the actor played many inconsequential roles in films while he continued to find suitable roles for playing the leading man in films.

Throughout 1980 and 1981, Shakti Kapoor established himself as an actor with 'Qurbani' and 'Rocky'.

In 1983, Shakti was featured in Himmatwala and Hero. His role as a villain in both the films earned appreciations for him.

Subsequently, in the 90s, the 'Rocky' actor was offered diversified characters including comic roles, which he pulled off with equal finesse.

Shakti Kapoor's portrayal of RD earned him praises and made him a name to be sought out for.

In 1995, the 66-year-old actor won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award for his hilarious performance as Nandu in David Dhawan's Raja Babu.

Some of his comic roles in films such as Insaaf, Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri, Andaz Apna Apna, ChaalBaaz and Bol Radha Bol has earned a lot of appreciations for him.

His films including Hungama, Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke, Malamaal Weekly and the Malayalam remake Bhagam Bhag took audiences on a laughter ride.
