'Gangs of Wasseypur' ruined my life: Anurag Kashyap

Anurag Kashyap left people in shock after his statement that the huge hit 'Gangs of Wasseypur' ruined his life. He expressed that he wants to move out of the zone and doesn't want to repeat the same things again.

Mumbai: 'Gangs of Wasseypur' director Anurag Kashyap recently said that the film ruined his life as it clocked seven years on Saturday.

The director feels this way as he tried to move out of the zone, but nobody accepted his films from a different genre. It is definitely a quip as the movies like 'Ugly', 'Mukkabaaz' and recently released 'Manmarziyaan' got good reviews.

He gave an update on his Twitter handle and mentioned, "7 years back is exactly when my life got ruined. Since then all everyone wants me to do is the same thing over and over again. Whereas I have only been unsuccessfully been trying to get away from that expectation. Anyways hope that “साढ़े साती” is over by the end of 2019."

'Gangs of Wasseypur' part 1 featured an ensemble cast with Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadda, Huma Qureshi, Vineet Kumar Singh, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles.

Part 1 was released on 22nd June 2012 in more than 1000 theatre screens across India.
The first installment focused on the coal mafia of Dhanbad, Jharkhand and underlying power struggles, politics and vengeance between three crime families.
