'Don't want to marry you', Neena Gupta recalls ex calling off wedding at last minute

Neena Gupta, who began enjoying marital bliss in her late 40s, has gone through tumulous times in her personal life. Recalling one of the bitter chapters of her earlier relationship, the actor has said that she was about to get married but the man cancelled their wedding at the last moment.

Hyderabad: Veteran actor Neen Gupta, who has been vocal about her struggle as a single mother and going through a challenging time in relationships has revealed that her ex ditched her at the time when she was gone to Delhi to get the wedding trousseau.

Neena had daughter Masaba Gupta after her brief relationship with former West Indies cricketing icon Vivian Richards in the eighties. Later, Neena went on to marry Delhi-based CA Vivek Mehra. Now she is happily married to Vivek and the couple often enjoys time off in their vacation house in Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand. But, the marital bliss that she always craved for has happened to her after going through a lot of ups and downs in life.

The actor recently launched her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh. In a candid conversation at the book launch event, the award-winning actor shared few deeply intimate accounts of her extraordinary personal and professional journey.

Recalling the time when she was almost set to enter wedlock, Neena said, "I had gone to get my clothes made in Delhi when he called up and said, 'I don't want to marry you.' To date, I don't know why but what can I do? I moved on. I would have loved to get married to him. I had a lot of respect for his father and mother; I was living in their house. He's going to read, he's alive, he's happily married. He has children."

On the work front, the 61-year-old actor was last seen in the family drama Sardar Ka Grandson wherein she portrayed a nonagenarian grandmother. Coming up next for Neena is Amitabh Bachchan starrer Goodbye in which she plays the role of Big B's wife.
