Mumbai: After author Chetan Bhagat revealed that producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had bullied him publicly and drove him close to suicide, netizens flooded various social media handles with their variant opinions, mostly in support of the author.
It all started on Tuesday when Chetan took to Twitter to urge critics to write sensibly while reviewing late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's forthcoming and last film Dil Bechara.
"Sushant's last film releases this week. I want to tell the snob and elitist critics right now, write sensibly. Don't act over smart. Don't write rubbish. Be fair and sensible. Don't try your dirty tricks. You have ruined enough lives. Now stop. We'll be watching," he tweeted.
However, Chetan's tweet did not go down well with a section of social media users, including popular film critic Anupama Chopra.
"Each time you think the discourse can't get lower, it does!," Anupama, wife of producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, responded.
Reacting to Anupama's tweet, Chetan called out Vidhu Vinod Chopra and blamed him for driving him close to suicide in the past.
"Ma'am, when your husband publicly bullied me, shamelessly collected all the best story awards, tried denying me credit for my story and drove me close to suicide, and you just watched, where was your discourse?," Chetan said.

Ever since the spat went viral, the author started hogging headlines, with many taking his side and applauding him for standing up for Sushant.
A user wrote, "Now we know that so many people in this industry are suffering but can't speak up like Kangana and Chetan bhagat. Well its upon us now. We will fight this battle till this whole system becomes fair."
"Bravo @chetan_bhagat for speaking up! Speak up for Sushant too. Time to cleanse the industry, and high time there are fundamental guidelines drawn to govern this unorganised industry. Yes, the FILM INDUSTRY is UNORGANISED! There I've said it!" wrote another.
A user wrote, "Finally someone said it! Kudos to @chetan_bhagat for speaking up about this. I've always admired his work and his morals are commendable."
"Thank you so much @chetan_bhagat Sir. Your stand towards right means a lot to everyone Sir. You proved that being human is not that difficult. The sold channels cannot write shit about anyone. How dared they to defame Sushant without any proof," another wrote.
In his recent tweet, Chetan was referring to Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 2009 film 3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.
The movie is based on Chetan's book Five Point Someone. Post the release of 3 Idiots in 2009, Chetan had reportedly posted a blog and slammed the makers for not giving him adequate credit in their film.
