Mumbai: A day after testing positive for coronavirus, legendary Urdu poet and lyricist Dr Rahat Indori passed away on Tuesday. The death of the 70-year-old poet has left Bollywood with an aching heart.
Taking to Twitter, veteran actor Anupam Kher wrote: "Ye kechiyaan hamein udane se khaak rokengee, kee ham paron se nahin hausalon se udate hain. Rahat Indori Sahab!! Aapke panktiyaan hamesha hamara hausala badhae rakhegi aur hamaara margadarshan karengi. Om shaanti! (Rahat Indori Sir!! Your lines will always encourage us and guide us. Om Shanti!)"

Lamenting the death of the ace lyricist, Varun Grover tweeted: "Rahat saab stadium bhar dete aur hazaaron ke bhid mein har insaan se seedhe rishta baandhte. Shabd unke hote lekin vo sabki awaaz the. Hindustaan ki awaaz. Aaj lambi chhupi hai."
One of the finest actors in Bollywood, Pankaj Tripathi also bid adieu to Rahat Indori. Taking to Twitter, he shared: "Alvida Rahat saheb. Aap hamaare dil aur smritiyon mein sadaiv rahenge (Goodbye Rahat Saheb. You will always be in our hearts and memories.)"
Calling the departed soul a "prolific and inspiring" poet, Jaaved Jaaferi tweeted: "One of the most powerful, prolific and inspiring poets of India passes on. Inna lillaahe wa inna elaihi raaje’oon (from God we have come and to Him is our return) Salaam and RIP #RahatIndori sahab. You will be missed. Heartfelt condolences to the family."
