Mumbai: Following P.V. Sindhu's epic win in BWF World championship on Sunday, Bollywood stars have showered congratulatory messages on her.
Celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Sonu Nigam, Anupam Kher, Taapsee Pannu, Karan Johar, Anushka Sharma among others have wished the ace shuttler on her historic win.
Hailing Sindhu's epic feat, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan tweeted: "Congratulations P.V. Sindhu for winning the Gold at the BWF World Championships... Making us proud as a nation with your exceptional talent. Keep creating history!"
Calling her win a proud moment for India, filmmaker Karan Johar wrote: "What a proud moment for India. Congratulations P.V. Sindhu on this amazing achievement of becoming the first Indian ever to win a gold at the BWF World Championship."
The 'Game Over' actress Taapsee Pannu who owns a team in Premier Badminton League' tweeted: "Finally!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome the new world champion P.V. Sindhu. It's the GOLD finally."
Congratulating Sindhu, actor Anupam Kher also wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations dearest P.V. Sindhu for becoming the world champion. Your victory makes Indians all over the world so so proud. Thank you for giving us reasons to rejoice. Your journey is greatly inspirational. Jai Ho and Jai Hind."
Taking pride for Sindhu's win at the world badminton championship, singer Sonu Nigam wrote: "What a proud moment for India... P.V. Sindhu First Ever Indian Badminton Champion of the World. God bless India. Kudos."
Actress Anushka Sharma termed her performance as "terrific" saying, "what a terrific performance! Congratulations... you go girl."
Actors R. Madhavan, Rakul Preet Singh, Sonu Sood and Ashish Chowdhury have also conveyed best wishes to Sindhu over Twitter.
P.V. Sindhu defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara by 21-7 in women's singles in Basel, Switzerland.
Her fifth medal in the world championship is the highest in women's singles in the history of the tournament. Apart from her two silver medals from the last two editions, Sindhu had also won the bronze in 2013 and 2014.
