Bollywood celebs trolled for congratulating Priya Malik for winning gold at Olympics

Several members from the Indian film industry have taken to social media to congratulate wrestler Priya Malik on winning gold at World Cadet Championship in Hungary. Meanwhile, few celebrities like Milind Soman, Bhumi Pednekar and Vatsal Seth are getting trolled on social media for sending congratulatory messages to Priya Malik, assuming she had won gold at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.

Hyderabad: Bollywood celebrities like Bhumi Pednekar, Milind Soman and Vatsal Seth are receiving flak on social media for congratulating Indian wrestler Priya Malik, assuming she had won gold at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. In reality, Malik had bagged a gold medal at the World Cadet Wrestling Championship 2021 in Hungary.

Congratulating Priya, Milind wrote, "Thank you Priya Malik! #gold #TokyoOlympics #wrestling welcome to Mt Olympus." However, Soman apologised in a separate tweet saying he should have checked before tweeting.

In a separate tweet, the model-actor expressed: "Sorry, should have checked before my earlier tweet, but was too overcome with joy. Priya Malik won Gold at the World Wrestling Championships! Onwards and upwards."

Meanwhile, Bhumi shared a picture of Priya from her victory moment and wrote on her Instagram story, "Baby gold gold gold gold gold #PriyaMalik #tokyoolympics #olympics2021" The actor, however, has now deleted her Instagram Story.

Vatsal Seth also shared the picture of Priya Malika and hailed her for her victory but for the wrong championship. He wrote, "Congratulations #priyamalik on #OlympicGames #Olympics." Realising his mistake, Vatsal corrected himself late and shared another post that read, "Sorry not Olympics … but we are still super proud of you"

Netizens are trolling the celebrities for gaffe and advised them to "Google little and find out in which world sporting event she won." A user wrote, "It's not mandatory to post congratulatory tweet without knowing about it."

Commenting on Milind's post, netizens trolled him for sharing incorrect information and requested him to delete the tweet. "Sir it's world wrestling championship and not Olympic... It is held in Hungary...fyi," wrote a user.

"Sir pls delete this. She won at World Championship at Hungry. Even I got excited initially," commented another user. Replying to this, Soman wrote: "I know now, still happy and I won't delete the tweet, sometimes its ok to make a mistake."

Meanwhile, celebs like, Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sara Ali Khan, Sagrika Ghatge and Sanjay Kapoor are among many others who have congratulated Priya.
