Big B's character in Gulabo Sitabo inspired by portrait or real life?

Netizens can't stop gushing over the uncanny resemblance of Big B's character in Gulabo Sitabo and an old man in Delhi. However, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar claimed that his character has been inspired by a portrait sketched by a Russian artist.

Mumbai: A picture of an old man who apparently looks like Amitabh Bachchan's character in Gulabo Sitabo has surfaced the internet.

The uncanny resemblance between the two has left netizens dumbstruck.

Creating a collage of the two, an unverified profile shared the image on Instagram back on May 23. Alongside the photo, the account manager wrote: "OH DAMN, GEE! Actor Amitabh Bachchan’s 'first look' from the forthcoming movie Gulabo Sitabo is exactly the replica of an Old Delhi man whose portrait I clicked and posted on my Insta in Jan last year—down to his scarf, beard, glasses!"

However, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar claimed that character’s look is inspired by Russian artist Olga Larionova's pencil portrait of an old man.
