Big B shares wedding story to mark 47 years of togetherness with Jaya

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is celebrating his 47th wedding anniversary with wife Jaya Bachchan. The Paa actor made the day memorable with some treasured photos of his marriage ceremony and narrated the fascinating wedding story.

Mumbai: Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan shared his interesting wedding story with fans as he celebrated his 47th wedding anniversary with wife-actor Jaya Bachchan on Wednesday.

The photos show the much-admired couple of Bollywood sitting in the mandap and performing the rituals. Jaya was dolled up in the red bridal lehenga, while Bachchan was seen wearing an off-white sherwani.

In the caption, the 77-year-old star began narrating the marriage story in the captions by noting his 1973 released film Zanjeer, which had Jaya Bachchan as the female lead.

"Had decided if Zanjeer would succeed, we would along with a few friends go to London for the first time .. My Father asked who you going with? When I told him who, he said you must marry her before you go .. else you don't go... So .. I obeyed .. !!," Big B wrote in the caption.

Recalling their first official meeting, Jaya once told a leading portal, "I was introduced to him on the sets of Guddi. I was impressed by him and somewhat in awe as he was Harivanshrai Bachchan's son. I felt he was different, though people laughed at me when I said that. I expressed my feelings and said he's going to make it big, even though I was aware he wasn't the usual stereotype hero. I fell in love with him very soon."

The duo tied the knot on June 3, 1973 and welcomed two children, daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda and son Abhishek Bachchan.

On the work front, Amitabh will next be seen in Gulabo Sitabo with Ayushmann Khurrana. He will also star in Jhund, Brahmastra and Chehre.
