Ajay Devgan's Maidaan delayed again

Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's upcoming film Maidaan has been pushed again. The film which was earlier set for a theatrical release on August 13, 2021, will now hit big screens on October 15, 2021.

Hyderabad: Actor-director Ajay Devgn on Saturday announced that his upcoming film Maidaan will arrive in theatres on October 15, 2021, on the occasion of Dussehra.

As reported earlier, Maidaan is based on the "golden years of Indian Football". In the film, Ajay's character is said to be based on the legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who is widely considered the founding father of Indian football. Rahim was manager of the Indian national football team from 1950 until his death in 1963. He is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football.

Announcing the new release date Ajay tweeted, "Maidaan now releases worldwide in theatres on Dussehra 2021. Shoot commences January 2021. Maidaan2021."

When the pandemic struck earlier this year, the unit was to start the final schedule which was then stalled following COVID-19 restrictions. The team will resume shoot in January 2021 and will wrap the film by April 2021.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame, the film also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh.
