Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's pictures from Mani Ratnam's Ponniyan Selvan sets are trending on social media platforms. The viral pictures are shared by Aishwarya's co-star from the film Master Raaghavan Murugan.

Hyderabad: Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's pictures from the sets of Mani Ratnam's upcoming directorial venture Ponniyin Selvan have taken social media by storm. Master Raaghavan Murugan, Aishwarya's co-star from the film has shared few pictures with the diva on his Instagram handle.

Raaghavan, who plays the young prince of Pandiya kingdom in Ponniyin Selvan, shared a string of pictures with Aishwarya which he took during the break between the shots. Sharing the pictures, Raaghavan wrote, "With @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb mam at the break of #ponniyinselvan shoot and that was a great experience acting with her."

Meanwhile, the first part of Tamil-language historical drama Ponniyin Selvan is set to be released in 2022. Aishwarya aside, the star-studded magnum opus features an ensemble of actors like Vikram, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.

The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. The book chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Ponniyin Selvan is backed by Ratnam's production house Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran's banner Lyca Productions.

Ratnam has co-written the screenplay of the film with Elango Kumaravel. B Jeyamohan has been credited as the dialogue writer on the movie. The film's music has been scored by Ratnam's frequent collaborator and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. Cinematographer Ravi Varman has shot the film.
