After Aamir's exit, Hrithik steps in for Vikram Vedha remake?

Bollywood superstar is no more part of Hindi remake of Tamil hit Vikram Vedha. Following his exit, the makers are reportedly in talks with Hrithik Roshan for the role of a gangster in the film.

Hyderabad: Bollywood hunk Hrithik Roshan has reportedly lapped up the role which was supposed to be essayed by Aamir Khan in the Hindi remake of Tamil crime thriller Vikram Vedha. Hrithik will be seen playing the role of a gangster in the film which also stars Saif Ali Khan as a righteous police officer.

Aamir opted out of the Vikram Vedha remake over creative differences is being widely reported. After Mr. Perfectionist's exit, the makers were on the lookout for an actor who could do justice to the role which was aced by acclaimed actor Vijay Sethupathi in the original.

The said gangster role is now being lapped up by the Hrithik. Interestingly, before Aamir gave his nod for the film, at one point the makers had also approached Hrithik but back then things did not work out. It seems Vikram Vedha was bound to happen with Hrithik as the film has come back to him after several months.

As reported earlier, Vikram Vedha draws inspiration from the folk tale of Raja Vikramaditya and the spirit, Betaal, and imagines the tale in a modern-day set-up. In the original film, R. Madhavan played the cop Vikram, while Vijay Sethupathi essayed Vedha.

In the film, Vikram, a top cop gunning for a criminal named Vedha, manages to capture the criminal several times through the story, but each time the criminal gives him the slip by distracting him with an interesting new story about his life. The stories also change the cop's perception of his life and duty.

The Bollywood remake will be directed by Pushkar-Gayatri, who also helmed the Tamil original. The film, backed by Neeraj Panday, was slated to go on floors in March 2020 but is being delayed since the casting is yet to be locked.
