A pair of onion earrings: Akshay's gift to wife Twinkle

It's no precious stones or luxury product but onion earrings that Akshay presented to his wife Twinkle Khanna. Owing to the increasing onion prices in India the actor took to social media to take a sharp dig on the issue.

Mumbai: Author turned producer and writer Twinkle Khanna, who is known for her straight forward and unabashed opinions, recently took a dig at the skyrocketing onion prices in India.

Twinkle on Thursday took to her Instagram handle to share the picture of a pair of onion earrings which her hubby Akshay Kumar gave her as a gift.

The 45-year-old author revealed that Akshay Kumar was on the sets of 'The Kapil Sharma Show', where he was promoting his upcoming film Good Newwz. Since Kareena Kapoor wasn't very impressed by the onion earrings, he decided to bring them home, said Mrs Funnybones.

Expressing her wit and humour in every piece she writes, the actor wrote: "My partner returns from performing at the Kapil Sharma show and says, 'they were showing this to Kareena, I don't think she was too impressed, but I knew you would enjoy them so I got them for you'."

She further added: "Sometimes it's the smallest things, the silliest things that can touch your heart. #onionearrings #bestpresentaward."

The hilarious post has garnered a lot of comments from social media users.

While one user wrote: "Hahaha epic," another commented: "Very soon you will find them at jewellery shops rather than vegetable market."
