WhatsApp revised Terms and Privacy Policy

WhatsApp is updating its terms and privacy policy. What does this mean? Does it mean our data will remain secure or not? Despite the fact, WhatsApp has been saying End to End Encryption, will all our chats and photos remain safe? All this is explained by Col. Inderjeet Singh, Cyber Security Expert, Director General, Cyber Security Association of India.

WhatsApp revised Terms and Privacy Policy

Hyderabad: This morning, Jan 6th, when clicking on WhatsApp, there was a pop up which talked about the revised privacy policy.

WhatsApp revised Terms and Privacy Policy

Key updates of WhatsApp new policy are:-

  • WhatsApp service and how the data is processed.
  • How businesses can use Facebook hosted services to store and manage their WhatsApp chat.
  • How WhatsApp will partner with Facebook to offer integrations across the Facebook Company products.
  • These updates will take place from February 8th.
  • Once the user's tap agrees, the new updates will be seen but only after February 8th. Post this date, the users have to accept the updates to continue using WhatsApp

As per Col. Inderjeet Singh, Cyber Security Expert, Director General, Cyber Security Association of India, this new Privacy Policy of WhatsApp makes you almost a product on WhatsApp rather than a free user. This means that whatever you share on WhatsApp like all your conversations, conversations, calls, group chats, contact DPs, payment information, etc will no more be confidential. Even if WhatsApp says end to end encryption, your data will not be safe.

Col. Inderjeet said very strongly that it is only a matter of time when we move from here to something like Facebook, which is stealing all your data for its business purposes.

WhatsApp will take away all your data and put it on Instagram and Facebook. Facebook is going to track you more than ever.

There are no free lunches anymore while functioning on social media
