Ushering in a new era of Mac computers, Apple announced that the new MacBook Pro laptop, MacBook Air and Mac Mini will house its own Silicon chip called M1 -- the most powerful chip created ever for PCs and laptops.Both MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will also come with macOS 11 Big Sur -- designed to work on the new hardware. All of Apple's Mac software is now Universal and runs natively on M1 systems.

Cupertino:The new 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,299, the new MacBook Air begins from $999 while Mac mini with M1 chip starts $699. India pricing is as follows:-

• Apple has refreshed the Mac lineup with its own M1 silicon chip and the new MacBook Air will be available in India from Rs 92,900 (Rs 83,610 for education). The new 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs 122,900 and Rs 110,610 for education and the new Mac mini starts at Rs 64,900 (Rs 58,410 for education).
• The new MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini with M1 is available to order today on apple.com.
• They will begin arriving to customers and will be in select Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Resellers soon, the company said in a statement.
  
  

Both MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will also come with macOS 11 Big Sur -- designed to work on the new hardware – and offers a customisable Control Centre where the users can toggle brightness, Do Not Disturb, and other settings of their choice.

• The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is 2.8 times faster with graphics that are up to five times faster than the previous generation.
• The 13-inch MacBook Pro is Apple's most popular pro notebook.

• The 2020 MacBook Air is also powered by Apple's new M1 processor which are Arm-based CPUs.
• In MacBook Air, M1 is faster than the chips in 98 percent of PC laptops sold in the past year.
• The eight-core M1 is a 5nm processor based on the A14 Bionic chip.
• Apple said the new MacBook Air is faster than the "98 percent of PC laptops sold in the last year." The device will give 15 hours of web browsing and 18 hours of video playback on a single charge.
• The new MacBook Air comes with a 13.3-inch retina display, up to 16GB memory, and 2TB storage.
• The new MacBook Air starts at $999 and $899 for education.

"The introduction of three new Macs featuring Apple's breakthrough M1 chip represents a bold change that was years in the making, and marks a truly historic day for the Mac and for Apple," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

• Apple claimed the new Mac mini is up to 60 percent more energy-efficient, thanks to the M1 chip.
• Mac mini is Apple's most versatile computer, and now with M1, it packs a staggering amount of performance and incredible new features in such a compact design.
• The company also claims the device has a "3 times faster CPU" and "6 times faster graphics," with options for up to 16GB RAM and up to 2TB SSD.
  
  

"When compared to the best-selling Windows desktop in its price range, the Mac mini is just one-tenth the size, yet delivers up to 5x faster performance," Apple said.

• With Big Sur and M1, Mac users can run a greater range of apps than ever before.
• All of Apple's Mac software is now Universal and runs natively on M1 systems.
