Hyderabad: The Tech Duo, Sikinder Reddy Thandra & Vinay Bhragav Reddy started Bharat Self Meter Reading App in March 2020. However, before this app launched, Sikinder tried other apps that did not do well for him. He did not give up. Vinay joined hands a new journey started. Determination is what made him move on in his life.
The Trigger point to Skikinder Reddy entrepreneur journey came with the question his mother Nirmala used to ask his friends & family members who visited his home. The question was whether you drink water in the morning or not on an empty stomach? Surprisingly many used to say no. She used to motivate them to start from the very next day.
Ideas can come from anywhere and at any point in time. He has been constantly analyzing the fundamental flaws in the lives of many people since 2011. In 2013, he launched the first & basic version app to the check-track-correct daily routine.
Sikinder owes it to his daughter's birthday, 21st Nov 2017, when he took a resolution to work full time to build the Simple Steps Platform for creating a proportionately significant positive impact in the society, as she grows. With a real passion, he started the journey of Simple Steps- Happy life, SSHL on 1st Nov. 2018.
Launched the Simple steps App beta version and could not get the expected traction. Then he launched Simzon Games- Smile to Play, based on Science of Happiness.
Both App & game not gaining the expected traction, he was still keen to get things right. Came to his help, his own brother in law, Vinay Bhargav. He is a computer science graduate from IIT Hyderabad and was part of App-based product development for a few successful startups with a multi-million user base.
Then came another idea. Sikinder Reddy had spent about 14 years of time in providing meter reading-billing-collection related solutions to Indian Utilities. He always believed technology can simplify many aspects of this space.
Joining hands with Vinay, Bharat Meter Reading App came into existence. Vinay came up with a basic version of the app, tested the app, and then finally the app was made public. Some of the features added in the app are; display scan based Meter reading platform leveraging OCR technology & AI.
Both Sikinder & Vinay proudly say, " Started our first field PoC in the month of Feb & March 2020 in a small area for one DISCOM". Having successfully completed the pilot and with the outbreak of COVID-19 lockdown, the tech duo quickly made Bharat Self Meter Reading Platformlive and reached out to most of the Electricity Utilities in India to empower their consumers with Self Meter reading option. Bharat Self Meter Reading has fixed the gap by empowering both Utilities and Consumers.
