Nabarangpur (Odisha): In a major breakthrough in its drive against contraband smugglers, Odisha police on Wednesday seized illegally acquired property worth around Rs 4.77 crore and traced cash transaction of around Rs 4.59 crore in Nabarangpur.
The police have arrested three persons in this connection. The accused have been identified as Prabhakar Mali, Anirudha Mali and Ramesh Mali of Panarguda village under Kosagumda police limits in the district.
Acting on reliable inputs from Narcotics Control Bureau, the Nabarangpur police led by SP Kusalkar Nitin Dagdu seized all movable and immovable properties of the trio.
The seized properties include four buildings, 4.82 acres of land, two tractors, two bikes and a car. Apart from this, police froze all bank accounts of these three smugglers.
The three accused support narcotics operation in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Two cases under Section-20 (b) (ii) (C) of NDPS Act are pending against the accused at Kosagumuda and Papadahandi police stations, said sources.
Further investigation is underway to trace the buyer of NDPS, said an official statement issued by Odisha police district headquarters.
